For several years in a row now, the average starting salary of a college graduate in China has been less than that of an entry-level factory worker.
After their families have sacrificed and poured their meager resources into the pursuit of an education, most college students find the thought of settling for blue-collar work after graduation inconceivable. It would mean losing one's face and that of the family, too!
I have encountered this education problem not only in China,- other countries face a similar challenge. Just take the US and many European countries as further examples.
So if you happen to finish high school right now, seriously ask yourself this question: what does an education get me in China/ Spain/ France/ US/ Thailand/ Australia/ UK/ ... ?
